An apprentice at Hinkley Point A Site has been awarded second place in the Engineering Employers Federation Apprentice of the Year competition for Somerset.
Chloe Bridges, a second year apprentice at the site, was put forward for the competition by her lecturers at Bridgwater College.
From 112 entries Chloe was selected to move forward to the second round where she faced a panel of three judges who asked questions about her portfolio and other work related issues.
After the competition the judges commented on the very high standard of Chloe’s work. “I was really pleased when I found out that I’d been selected for the competition, gaining a second place award was a real bonus and I believe it shows that the hard work I put into the project has paid off,” said Chloe.
The eighteen year old, who lives in Bridgwater, splits her time between Hinkley Point A and Bridgwater College where she is studying towards her National Certificate in manufacturing, City and Guilds 2800 in maintenance and, through her on site work, her NVQ Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
